Sally’s approach to working with clients is person-centred, evidence-based, and trauma-informed. She meets people where they are in life, and she adapts each session to a person’s needs, recognizing that everyone has their own lived experience, including family background and culture. She helps people make sense of their worlds and how to live authentically in it.
In addition to individual counselling, Sally works with couples and families. She helps people open lines of communication, find healthy ways to connect with their loved ones, and she helps to resolve conflict within a relationship.

Isabel’s therapeutic practice is supported by trauma-informed and person-centered modalities, recognizing the importance of understanding each individual’s unique story within the larger context of their social, cultural, and familial systems. She adapts her approach to each client, striving to meet them where they are and helping them navigate their path forward with sensitivity and care. Her commitment to supporting each client's unique journey reflects her deep belief in the potential for personal growth, connection, and resilience.
Isabel holds a master's degree in Social Psychology where she researched how cooking fosters self-understanding and connection, and she continues to enjoy bringing people together through food. Her holistic approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, and she tailors her therapeutic style to fit each client’s unique needs. A registered clinical counsellor will hold a master’s degree in counselling and will meet specific eligibility criteria, undergo specific supervision and meet clinical requirements in order to become registered. All members of our mental health team are registered with either the BCACC or the CCPA in order ensure an exceptional level of care for our patients. Therapists are qualified to evaluate and treat both mental health concerns and diagnoses. Approaches vary and clinical counsellors should be providing empirically supported approaches to their sessions.
A psychologist will typically hold a doctoral degree and is qualified to evaluate and treat mental health concerns and diagnoses. All approaches should be research based and empirically supported. The main difference lies in a psychologists ability to provide assessments and diagnose mental health conditions.
The term “counsellor” is not a protected title in British Columbia. In BC, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Certified Clinical Counsellor (CCC) will hold a master’s degree, is held to specific eligibility criteria, and must undergo both direct and indirect supervision along with clinical hour requirements in order to become registered.

Most individuals seek out a registered clinical counsellor when they are searching for support that they don’t experience in their everyday lives. Patients often feel like they “can’t talk about this stuff with anyone else”, “don’t want to burden their family”, or “are too embarrassed to share things with their friends”.

Your first clinical counselling appointment takes about an hour and is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other, understand the counselling relationship, and create a foundation for how your sessions will proceed. You may describe any topics you wish to explore to ensure that your counsellor has a background in the areas that are of importance to you. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature, meaning you may explore specific problems, past trauma or specific symptoms you would like to address.
It is important to keep in mind that counselling usually requires multiple visits. The expectation of a quick fix usually leaves individuals feeling frustrated and it is of value to note that counselling is rooted in providing each individual with the education and support to help them gain independence be able to move forward feeling strong and independent.
During your initial therapy appointment, your therapist will:
- Gain your informed consent
- Understand your goals and expectations
- Explain their methods of treatment
- Address anything else you find relevant to moving forward
